Emergency line

During office hours you can call the telephone numbers of our practices and choose 1, or you can reach us on our special emergency number 050 – 573 34 21
Outside office hours you call 0900 – 9229 for Doktersdienst Groningen.

The clinic is open weekdays from 8.00 am till 5.00 pm. You are welcome to step in and make an appointment. We can also be reached by telephone between the hours of 8.00 am till 1.00 pm and 1.30 pm till 5.00 pm to make an appointment, request consultation by telephone, request a home visit, or request a new prescription.

You have your own doctor!
One of the doctors is your own doctor. You make your appointment with him or her specifically. In case of the clinic of Ter Braak and Van Riel you can make an appointment with one of them. When your doctor is unavailable due to temporary absence and you cannot wait until (s)he returns, one of the other doctors may substitute. For current information about date, see the Dutch page ‘Actueel’ on this website.

At our practices we offer several services

Consulting hours doctors
Consultations are scheduled by making an appointment to see your general practitioner (your GP). During scheduling, the assistant will ask you about the reason for your appointment. If you wish to discuss multiple health issues, please inform the assistant so that she may book an extended appointment.

If you wish to cancel your appointment, please inform us as soon as possible! Appointments that were not cancelled may be charged.

Note: It is always possible to bring a translator to your appointment; or you can ask us to phone an official translator. This ensures that all patients are welcome, regardless what language they speak.

Consulting hours assistants
You can make an appointment with one of our assistants for: ear cleaning, wart treatment, cervical smear, STD screening, wound dressing, stitch removal, measurement of blood pressure or blood glucose, injections, hearing screening, urine testing, etc. For testing of urine please deliver it before 10.00 am.

Consulting hours nurse practitioners
You can make an appointment for: monitoring and guiding people with diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic heart problems, asthma and COPD, help to quit smoking, and general questions about healthy living. Two specialized practitioners are on duty for mental health problems.

Home visits
If you are unable to come to the practice but need to see your doctor for medical reasons, you can request a home visit. Due to scheduling, home visits need to be requested before 10.00 am.

Repeat prescriptions
You can request repeat prescriptions 24 hours a day by calling our practice and choosing option 2. When done before 11.00 am, you can collect the prescription the next day after 3.00 pm from your pharmacist.

Consultation by telephone
Advice per telephone can often be given by the assistant. If necessary, your doctor will call back between 12.00 am and 2.00pm. For obtaining test results please call between 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm.

Evening, night, and weekend duties
These are arranged by Doktersdienst Groningen, van Swietenlaan 2b, phone number 0900 – 9229. All GPs in Groningen collaborate in these duties. The receptionist will ask for your name, address, and health insurance. Please have this information ready. You will then be called back by a medical assistant, to whom you can tell the medical issue for which you call. This assistant then makes a further appointment with you.

Complaints and suggestions
We try to help you to the best of our abilities. If you have any complaints or suggestions, please discuss these with your GP or with the assistant. In case of remaining complaints you may contact Stichting Klachtenregeling Huisartsenzorg Noord-Nederland (SKGE). Ask our assistants or see
